Residential Child Care

Residential child care facilities include 275 child-caring institutions, 80 child-placing agencies and 9 outdoor child caring programs as of February, 2009.  In addition, there will be the addition of one Children's Transition Care Center this fiscal year.  These will continue to be licensed by the Residential Child Care Licensing Unit within the Office of Regulatory Services.

Notice:  Effective October 1, 2004, the responsiblity for licensing and inspecting day care centers (non-Pre-K), group day care centers, and family day care homes transferred to the agency, Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning

New Contact Information for Submitting Complaints on Residential Child Care facilities: Child Placing Agencies (CPA), Child Caring Institutions (CCI), Outdoor Child Caring Programs (OCCP), Maternity Homes, and Children's Transitional Care Centers (CTCC)  complaints can be made via email to RCCReports@dhr.state.ga.us or by calling 404-657-9644.
